Our speaker, with his closer perspective on Washington, will provide a legislative/regulatory update and projection as to what we might expect in the benefits area in the next year.  We will also elect new officers for 2019.

About Our Speaker

David Godofsky practiced as enrolled actuary here in Nashville as a partner in Bryan Pendleton Swats & McAllister, which is now called Findley. When BPS&M was sold, David moved to Washington DC, where for the last 18 years he has been practicing law in Alston & Bird. During David’s 8 year stint as leader of A&B’s employee benefits practice group, it was named by US News and World Report as Law Firm of the Year for Employee Benefits and ERISA Litigation – four years in a row.

During his legal career, David represented the Governor of Florida in the Florida Supreme Court, establishing the right of the State to reform the pension system for 500,000 state and municipal workers; and he represented the Chicago Transit Authority Retirement Plan in the Supreme Court of Illinois, establishing the right of governmental entities to reform their pension systems through collective bargaining. David’s partners in Washington include Senator Bob Dole and former Congressman Earl Pomeroy.
